Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is there really time during an incident to video map a building?
  2. No, video mapping is a pre-planning measure and is not meant to be done at the scene of an incident, but rather prior to it.

  3. How long does it take to video map a building?
  4. Small buildings less than 50,000 sq/ft can be done in a couple of hours. Buildings in the 200,000 sq/ft range can be done in one day. Buildings that are over 1 million sq/ft can take a week. It really depends on the character of the environment, office vs. warehouse, and the ease of access throughout the building.

  5. How is the video mapping data made available at the scene?
  6. The ImmersiMap software viewing software is designed to be run from laptops that are brought to the scene of an incident. Specialized units have response vehicles that contain all of the equipment that they need. These laptops become one of those pieces of equipment. In the pre-planning stage they are identified and equipped with the video mapping data.

  7. Can we have the data centrally stored and accessed remotely?
  8. Yes, through the integrators that have partnered with us. While our system is not designed for remote access, our partners may offer that in their product.

  9. Can the video mapping database be viewed in a GIS system?
  10. Yes, again through our partners. The ImmersiMap viewing software is a standalone program. You can however, upgrade to any of our partner companies programs in the future and view your existing buildings in their programs.
